Cake Care
TRANSPORTING
•Always pick up & carry the cake box securely from the bottom, never from the sides. Do not place anything on the top of the box or press in the sides of the box.
•Place the cake securely on a flat surface in an air conditioned car. Do not hold in your lap or set on the car seat.
STORAGE & SERVING
•Store cakes in the box in the refrigerator.
Leftovers should be stored in the refrigerator in an airtight container or plastic wrap.
•Single tier cakes: remove from the refrigerator 1-2 hours before serving to warm to room temperature.
•Multi tier cakes: remove from the refrigerator 2-3 hours before serving to warm to room temperature.
(Timing is a guideline only and is relative to the actual temperature of the room, for colder days the cake may need more time, warmer days less.)
The buttercream should be soft, similar to the consistency of room temperature butter & the knife should glide easily through.
CUTTING
•Remove any decorations before cutting.
•TIERED CAKES
-Tiered cakes have a dowel running through the center of all tiers. Each tier is on a cake board. Each supporting tier has dowels under the tier above.
-To serve, remove the top tier by sliding a knife under the tier & lifting up & off the center dowel. Do the same with any additional tiers. Remove all support dowels before cutting.
•Event serving sizes are 1” wide x 1.5” long x 5“ high
•Birthday party serving sizes are 1” wide x 2“ long x 5” high
